Preparing for College by Learning to Type

While in High School, it is important to continue preparing for college.  One way to do that is to learn to type.  When you enter college, it is important to be accurate when you type and it is also important to type fairly quickly.  By doing this, you can be equal to the other students who can already type and it helps prepares you for college.

If you don't already know how to type, you should be able to select a typing class in high school.  Even if you already have some typing experience, taking the class will improve your skills.  If you think that simply by typing with two fingers will get you through college, the hill will be much harder to climb.  Make it easier on yourself and learn to type while still in high school.

When you consider how much work you will need to do in college, your typing speed will play a factor in your success.  You will have reports, term papers, writing assignments and more.  If you have a laptop computer, you might want to even take notes with your computer.  Typing fast will make a big different when you take notes.  To keep up with the other students and your college workload, improving your typing skills is a smart thing.

Like most things, being a good typist takes time and practice.  Don't get frustrated when you can't type 50 words a minute to start.  Over time, this process will get faster and faster and you'll have learned an important skill.  It is important that you don't allow yourself to give-up learning to type.  It will take time, but the benefits far outweigh the time required to become an effective typist.

As a high school student, learning to type is one of the many ways in which you are preparing for college.
